Could you tell us about yourself and your job role? And one hobby/fun fact?

I'm Milly, I'm the Awards Centre and Training Manager at the Camden Society, my job is to facilitate training for our apprentices and trainees with a learning disability. I love what I do and love watching people grow in confidence and get the skills they need to get into work.

What is a typical day like for you?

A typical day for me includes registering people onto qualifications, checking over assessment decisions and staying in touch with managers and assessors. I'm currently working on a new training tracker so that we can evidence the amazing work that our teams complete with our learners.

Could you tell us how you got into your role?

I started out as a support worker part time whilst I was in uni. I was studying arts management but after doing some volunteering with people with a learning disability I was definitely more invested in them than my degree. I graduated and then moved in to an employment advisor position with The Camden Society, and since then have worked my way up to the position I'm in now!

What motivates you to do a good job?

I'm motivated by my work because I want others to see the potential that I see in people with a learning disability. The team I work with are also great, and inspire me everyday.

How do you learn at work?

I've been lucky enough to be able to complete additional qualifications at work, I've just completed my assessors award, and have done a teaching qualification to. Mostly, I learn from my colleagues - I'm always asking for advice!

What are your aims for the next year? For example, if you work in accessibility do you have any plans to help make workplaces more inclusive? If you work in Learning and Development how are you going to promote workplace learning?

Plans for the next year are to continue to make work places more inclusive. To improve the training that we offer to meet industry standards!
