Summary: National Inclusion Week is an annual opportunity to raise awareness of Inclusion and Diversity in the workplace by Inclusive Employers. This year we want to spotlight businesses that have made accessibility and disability inclusion a priority, which we hope will encourage other organisations to embed inclusion in their policies and strategies because when the workplace is accessible – everyone wins!

Today’s disability inclusion spotlight: BECO

Today we are celebrating their: #StealOurStaff campaign

Why it’s great: BECO is a soap company that has started this campaign because they want to help their disabled staff further their careers. This can be challenging for many people with disabilities because of perceived notions about disability, for example a survey published this year found that one in five business leaders would be “very apprehensive” about appointing a disabled person to a senior role.

BECO is supporting the progression of their disabled staff by:

  • Creating a series of accessible films to raise awareness about the disability employment gap and the benefits of hiring people with disabilities, starring disabled staff members of staff like Michael, Sareet, Trudy and Stephen. We love that they not only made the films viewable for everyone, but that BECO has put disabled people at the forefront of their campaign.

You can find out more about the #StealOurStaff campaign on BECO’s website.
